The Taipan is a retrofitted fighter design of the First Cylon War used by Colonial forces, supposedly of Kobollian descent.

Although it lacks the mobility of the Viper in a dogfight, the twin-linked heavy cannons provide substantial anti-capital strike capability.

Notes

• The Taipan is based on Ralph McQuarrie's original Viper concept that found later use in Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century.
• Akin to the Viper, this ship's classification is named after a venomous snake.
