Lieutenant Boomer is a Lieutenant and a veteran Viper pilot in the Colonial Fleet aboard battlestar Galactica.
He volunteers to stay behind to guard the crippled Freighter Eighteen, where he single-handedly engages a Cylon attack force before being reinforced by Apollo and Starbuck ((Comics: Look-In Magazine: Storyline 1)).[2]
While pursuing Apollo to the planet Thar, Boomer witnesses his friend's Viper vanish. Later, believing Starbuck has been shot down by a mysterious alien ship, he commences an attack on the vessel, which is revealed to be an illusion. This act of aggression causes the pacifist Tharians to deem the Colonials too violent to be welcomed to their world ((Comics: Look-In Magazine: Storyline 2)).[3]
Boomer leads a rescue mission to the planet Zaroak after contact is lost with Apollo's team. With Boxey as a stowaway, he rescues a Zaroakian soldier and leads the party into the mines to join the fight and help his friends escape ((Comics: Look-In Magazine: Storyline 4)).[4]
Maximum Press
Sometime after "The Hand of God," Boomer and Lieutenant Dietra become romantically involved and apparently sealed. As a result of their union, Cleo is born, but Boomer suffers Dietra's loss sometime after Cleo's birth (The Enemy Within 2).
By 7362, Boomer is given a promotion to colonel and is given full command of Galactica's squadrons, and is one of the first Warriors to land on Earth (War of Eden 1). After Commander Cain reactivates Sheba's commission in the Colonial Fleet, Sheba becomes Boomer's wingman to prepare her for command of Silver Spar Squadron (The Enemy Within 2).

Lieutenant Boomer is a skilled and dependable Viper pilot in the Colonial Fleet, and a key member of Blue Squadron often flying alongside his close friends, Starbuck and Apollo.
Boomer is a constant presence in the fleet's most critical missions, valued for his reliability and skill. He is part of the initial landing party on the planet Salis, where he is captured by the Acmarans alongside his fellow warriors before their subsequent escape ((Comics: The Law of Volahd, Part 1) ― (Comics: The Law of Volahd, Part 2)).[5]
Often serving as a voice of reason to Starbuck's recklessness, Boomer is tasked by Colonel Tigh to accompany Starbuck on a mission to the Prison Barge to prevent a mutiny led by a guard named Krolis, who intends to execute the captured traitor, Baltar ((Comics: Prison of Souls, Part 2)).[6] He is later part of the initial construction crew for the settlement on Domia. During the subsequent attack by rock creatures, he is ordered by Apollo to evacuate the members of the Council of the Twelve. While piloting the shuttle, Sire Obob demands he turn back and attack the creatures. When Boomer refuses, Obob seizes the weapon controls, and fires on the alien structures himself, causing a massive explosion and severely injuring Starbuck in the process ((Comics: Fire in the Sky)).[7]
In a later engagement, Boomer is among the pilots, including Sheba and Janus, who go missing after patrolling through an unknown system ahead of the Fleet. It is revealed that he has been captured by the Cylons and, in the story's cliffhanger ending, he is shown being cybernetically altered. This is presented as the Cylons' "latest improvement," turning Colonial warriors into agents who can think and fight like Colonials ((Comics: Masquerade)).[8]
