Sarany is the leader of the Tharians, a pacifist people with the ability to manipulate the dimension of time.

She makes first contact with Apollo on her planet, Thar, appearing only to him. She explains that her people are testing the Colonial Fleet's character by projecting an illusory spaceship in their path. When the Colonials fail the test by showing aggression, she asks them to leave, but not before inviting Apollo to stay with her, an offer he declines out of duty to his people ^{(Comics: Look-In Magazine: Storyline 2)}.
