Jatu is Freg's daughter who survives the Cylon occupation of Maytoria.

Prior to Freg's participaton in the assault on the Cylon command center in Maytoria's central city, Jatu asks her father if her mother will be the Fleet. He replies that she will not be meeting them there, but promises that he will return (^{(Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 1 #3)}).

She and other non-combatant Maytorians are rescued aboard a stolen Cylon personnel carrier and brought to Galactica, with Freg pledging his loyalty to Commander Adama in order to protect her (^{(Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 1 #4)}—^{(Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 1 #5)}).
