Adama as president of the Quorum of Twelve. |
Adama is the final president of the Quorum of Twelve before the Battle of Cimtar, and the leader of the resultant Colonial Resistance in an alternate reality.
Early Life[edit]
Marrying Ila, they begat a family of three children: their firstborn son Apollo, followed by their only daughter Athena and their lastborn son Zac.
Much of his life mirrors his counterpart's, with exception of a noted divergence: Adama served on the battlestar Rycon, leaving the service after being passed over for his own command. Taking his talents into the diplomatic corps, he ascended to the presidency of the Quorum of Twelve, becoming influenced by Lord Baltar, and to whom Apollo became an aide.
Having dissuaded his sons from military service, Zac became a pilot in the merchant fleet, and Athena married her childhood sweetheart, Thom (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #3).
Destruction of Man[edit]
As president of the Quorum, he was lured by Baltar into the false promise of peace with their mortal enemy, the Cylons. As a result of succumbing to this betrayal, he loses his entire family; his old friend, Commander Tigh, saves the wounded Adama from the battlestar he and Ila traveled upon before the ship's destruction.
With no known battlestars surviving this decisive strike—for the Colonial Fleet never had a battlestar named Galactica—Adama uses his influence to assemble survivors into a resistance group, operating from a planet nicknamed Cache (Q-Cache 7202) (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #3).
Renewed Resistance[edit]
Using low-profile guerrilla warfare tactics, Adama and his lieutenants, Boomer and Serina, build a force that strategically harasses the Cylons. Adama's reticence for a stronger, bolder offensive conflict that his lieutenants advocate is upset by the appearance of Apollo, originating from a universe where Galactica exists—but is temporally displaced due to the destabilization of Zee's temporal battery (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #1—#3).
This different Apollo convinces Adama and the resistance to change its tactics, culminating into a final conflict where Adama exacts vengeance against Baltifer, absconds with his baseship, and is able to lend pivotal assistance in saving Apollo's Galactica from destruction using time warp engines (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #4 & #5).
