Belial is an Original Series Cylon

Belial is an IL-series Cylon tasked by the Imperious Leader, Lord Barkol, to further the advances of the Cylon Empire.

Provisioned with the breadth and depth of scientific knowledge available to the Empire, Belial discovers during his explorations that returning the Cylons to their biological form was necessary. He creates the nano-cybrid to further this aim, and is captured before he could refine his work ((ComicsBattlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #3)).

Following his capture, the "infidel basestar" consisting of Belial's followers are hunted to the planet Burania and destroyed ((ComicsBattlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #1)), with the nano-cybrid falling into the hands of the Colonials from Galactica.

The Colonials weaponize it for an attack on Tessida, where Belial is held, partially disassembled and bound by Viceroy Abbadon to await his fate with the other Cylons under imminent attack ((ComicsBattlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #3)(ComicsBattlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #4)).
