Bael is an IL-series Cylon scientist who oversees top-secret projects for the Imperious Leader. He appears to hold a high rank, reporting directly to the Leader, and is in a rivalrous relationship with Lucifer for the Leader's favor (^{(Comics: Hades Hath No Fury)}).

Bael is in charge of a high-priority Cylon project regarding the construction of Vulpa Seven. He is protective of his authority over the project, initially refusing to give a status report to Lucifer, stating the information is for the Imperious Leader only. Under threat from Lucifer, Bael confirms the project is on schedule (^{(Comics: Hades Hath No Fury)}). Later, when reporting to the Imperious Leader, Bael attempts to take full credit for the project's progress, dismissing Lucifer as an "annoyance." The Imperious Leader is unimpressed and threatens to demote Bael to a salvage drone if the project is not completed on time (^{(Comics: Fire in the Sky)}).

Bael is the lead scientist responsible for the creation of a new type of Cylon created by transferring the consciousness of the captured Colonial pilot Roz into an advanced Centurion body. Bael reports the technical specifications of the new unit to the Imperious Leader, detailing its advanced armor and weaponry. After the procedure is complete, Bael notes that the transfer was a success but observes an "anomaly" in the prototype's "most peculiar" ferocity during testing. The Imperious Leader considers this a sign that Bael may have been "too successful" in his work (^{(Comics: Centurion Prime)}).
