Osiris (0913) is an Orion class "pocket battlestar"[1] in the Colonial Fleet, during the First Cylon War. It lived a short and semi-secretive life during the war, having been hidden away by Colonial Admiralty. At the time of her destruction, Osiris was attached to the 54th Battlestar Group.
History
Osiris first entered service sometime either before or after the onset of the First Cylon War, where prior to the tenth year, she was reported destroyed in an earlier engagement with Cylon forces. However, she is found hiding away in Cylon held space, as part of a "Ghost Fleet" the Colonial Admiralty was building as part of a last ditch effort to strike at the Cylons.
Sometime after being hidden away, Osiris is tasked by the Admiralty for a combat jump to Djerba, as part of a mission to deliver false information to the Cylons.
Battle of Djerba
- Main article: Battle of Djerba
Osiris successfully completes her jump to Djerba, however a Cylon basestar jumps in shortly afterwards. Operating in stealth mode hides the ship from Cylon DRADIS initially, but the ship is detected shortly thereafter after Commander Ozar pushes ahead with the mission, and powers up for attack.
The ship is quickly overwhelmed, and the decision is made to launch her nuclear missile compliment at the basestar, however due to damage, the launchers are compromised, and the missiles do not launch. In order to save those on the planet from Cylon assault, Commander Ozar orders the ship to ram the basestar, where she manually detonates the ship's nuclear warheads. Both ships are destroyed in the explosion resulting in the loss of all hands ("Blood and Chrome").
Crew
- Commander Ozar - Commanding officer
- Lieutenant Zachary Elias - Viper pilot
