Captain [[Kara Thrace]] pilots 8737 on a [[Combat Air Patrol]] during fleet refueling operations. She pursues what she believes to be a [[Cylons (RDM)|Cylon]] [[Heavy Raider]] in this Viper and both are nearly lost when she dives deep into the gas giant's atmosphere. The Viper is lost during a later CAP along with Thrace when it is crushed by the intense atmospheric pressure of the planet after Thrace descends below the so-called "hard deck" ([[Maelstrom]]).  
When ''Galactica'' receives word of [[Fall of the Twelve Colonies|the Cylon attack]] against [[The Twelve Colonies of Kobol|the Colonies]], 8737 is among the 40 Mark IIs pressed into service {{TRS|Miniseries, Night 1}}.

Viper 8737NC is one of the Viper Mark IIs taken from Galactica's museum. It was previously piloted by Margot "Steady" Ready during the First Cylon War.

When Galactica receives word of the Cylon attack against the Colonies, 8737 is among the 40 Mark IIs pressed into service (TRS: "Miniseries, Night 1").
