Roz is a rookie Viper pilot aboard Galactica. He is a young, eager Warrior, but his inexperience is evident, thus still considered a "rookie" by his more seasoned squad mates in Blue Squadron.

During an engagement with a Cylon patrol, Roz's Viper is disabled, and he is captured by the Cylons. Despite Apollo's desire to mount a rescue, the presence of a Cylon basestar and multiple attack craft force the Colonial forces to retreat, leaving Roz behind.

Roz is taken to the Imperious Leader, who sees an opportunity to exploit the "inherent component" of humanity. Under the supervision of the Cylon scientist Bael, Roz becomes the first test subject for a new type of Cylon. The process involves transferring his organic consciousness into a heavily armored, poly-alloy ceramic Cylon body equipped with dual-action plasma disrupters. The procedure is a success, but the resulting Centurion displays an unusual ferocity. This new Cylon, with Roz's consciousness, is then sent on a mission to find and destroy Galactica.

In the ensuing battle, Centurion Roz engages Apollo in combat. The Centurion Prime is able to anticipate Apollo's maneuvers and even addresses him by name. Just as the Centurion Prime is about to kill Apollo, it is destroyed by Starbuck. In its final moments, the being cries out for Apollo's help, revealing the tormented human consciousness trapped within. Believing it destroyed, it is left behind on the planet, but a spark of life is evident as the Fleet makes good their escape (^{(Comics: Centurion Prime)}).
