The tech spider[1] is a crawlon-like drone in use by the Cylons for repair and diagnostic purposes.
These eight-legged chrome machines feature egg-like bodies, with the distinctive "red eye" scanner at their front, and a pair of protruding mandibles at the mouth. Their overall size is comparable to a Centurion's head.
These are set upon Starbuck's Temporal Viper following its capture by the forces from Baltifer's baseship, and were able to provide Zee with information to construct a temporal warp drive ((Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #2) & (Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #4)).
The spiders are later deployed upon Apollo's own Temporal Viper with instructions to destroy the craft should Apollo fail to lead Baltifer into Apollo's original universe ((Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #5)).
