The Landing Signal Officer (LSO) is the officer who is responsible for all flight operations on the flight pods of battlestars and other military vessels. This includes the landing of all vessels, from Vipers and Raptors to small liners such as Colonial One (Miniseries, Final Cut).
On battlestar Galactica, the LSO was Captain Aaron Kelly (Miniseries, Final Cut). He used his position to wage a bombing campaign which resulted in the death of Baltar's first lawyer (The Son also Rises) and nearly killed the second. Kelly's replacement in the postion has not yet been featured.
