Ratchet is the landing signal officer on Atlantia two years after the end of the Cylon War.

Ratchet and Lieutenant William Adama are not fond of one another, but Ratchet agitates Adama by requesting to be the LSO on duty during Adama's thousandth landing. As a result, Adama accelerates during his landing thereby forcing Ratchet to avoid being hit. When Ratchet threatens to put Adama on report, Adama replies by engaging in a bout of flatulence (Battlestar Galactica: Origins 5).
