Additional Information

The Prometheus is a freighter in the Fleet rumored to be so rife with illicit activity, it is "off the grid". It serves as the base of operations for the ex-mercenary Phelan and is the main trading hub for the Fleet's black market (Black Market).

During refueling operations over a gas giant, a valve failure requires a restart of the unrep maneuver with Galactica (Maelstrom).

She is captained by Doyle Franks, who is selected as one of five judges at Gaius Baltar's trial (Crossroads, Part I)[1]. After the trial, Prometheus jumps into the Ionian nebula and loses power before a Cylon attack on the Fleet (Crossroads, Part II).

Notes

  • The freighter is named from the Lord of Kobol Prometheus. The deity Prometheus is noted for taking fire from the Gods and giving it to the humans against Zeus's wishes. Given Tom Zarek's continual referencing of Admiral Adama as Zeus, and the fact that Prometheus is the hub of the black market, an organization which seeks to redistribute goods from the military to the civilians, the parallel is very apparent.
