Doctor Philomon is a technician from the town of Qualai on Caprica who works for Graystone Industries. He is fascinated by the U-87, correctly ascribing a female aspect to the robot, and treating it with more courtesy, kindness, and compassion than his fellow technicians—notably Drew (Rebirth).
Zoe-R develops feelings for Philomon and, in the guise of "Rachel", made a date with him in the V-World via a dating program called V-Match (Know Thy Enemy).
After Philomon is directed to erase the Master Control Processor and, with it, Zoe-R, Zoe-R confesses to Philomon that she is in fact Rachel, and asks him to help her become free. Philomon agrees, but then triggers a security breach alarm. Enraged, Zoe-R backhands him, sending him into a support beam, killing him instantly.
Notes
- Philomon has occasionally been referred to as "Philo" (even listed in the credits as such). Presumably, Philo is the short form of the name Philomon.
- The name Philomon may be a reference to Philemon, a Jungian spirit guide that takes the form of a winged man.
- The name Philomon may also be a reference to "Philemon" in the Bible's New Testament. Philemon was a Christian who owned a slave, Onesimus; Onesimus ran away, became a Christian himself, and was returned to Philemon by the Christian Apostle Paul along with a letter (contained in the Bible as the short book of "Philemon"). In the letter, Paul pleads for Onesimus, asking Philemon to receive him not as a runaway slave but as a new brother in their common faith.
- From Philomon's Caprica V-Match account viewers learn that he is a fan of Baxter Sarno and Gemenese monster movies. His hobbies include applied robotics, nuclear Quantum mechanics, and astrology.
