Artist Edu Menna's take on Cain in (Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #6). | |||||
Following the Battle of Gamoray, Pegasus escapes via a lightspeed maneuver with Cain and his crew surviving the encounter, unbeknownst to Galactica.
Two sectares following Gamoray, he considers transferring command of Pegasus over to Iollas, his long-time friend of thirty yahrens and executive officer, as he misses his daughter deeply.
He abandons that idea following the transmission from the last known living Cylon woman, Kali, and leads a small team to the interior of the hollow planetoid ((Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #1)).
While separated from his security detail after landing on the planet, he speaks to Kali and encounters a man who pistol-whips him unconscious. It is after he regains consciousness that he is "convinced" to heed Kali's every word by this same entity ((Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #1) & (Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #5)).
As such, Cain finds himself executing upon decisions that he would not normally make, including jailing his own daughter, Sheba, after she questions his actions ((Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #5)).
Following Sheba's escape from the brig, she makes her way to Pegasus's bridge finding that the battlestar has opened fire on the two Galacticas. Kali's control over Cain is broken when she shoots Sheba, who dies in Cain's arms. In retaliation, Cain breaks Kali's neck, and orders all hands abandon Pegasus. With great anger and shame over what he has allowed to happen, Cain destroys the basestar that Iblis commands by ramming Pegasus into it—joining his daughter in death ((Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #6)).
Notes
edit sourceCain's appearance changes mid-way through (Comics: Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica) series, as Edu Menna completed the back-half of the six issue series from Johnny Desjardins.
Realm Press
edit sourceCain is a legendary Commander in the Colonial Fleet, renowned for his brilliant military mind and his relentless pursuit of the Cylons. He is the commander of the battlestar Pegasus and the father of Sheba.[1]
Prior to the Battle of Molecay, he commands the Fifth Fleet, spearheading the war effort against the Cylons. His command is characterized by a relentless and single-minded drive to end the Thousand-Yahren War, sparing no expense or resource in this quest ((Comics: Daddy's Girl)).[1]
Sheba feels immense pressure as a cadet to live up to his reputation and prove that she is more than just "Daddy's Girl".[2] When he learns his daughter is in danger after faking launch codes for an unauthorized mission, he personally leads the rescue mission to save her.[3] He finds Sheba in a cave just after she has fought off several creatures and comforts her, telling her that everything is fine now that he has arrived ((Comics: Daddy's Girl)).[4]
Cain and the battlestar Pegasus were thought to have been lost for many yahrens, but resurfaced to save Galactica and her Fleet from a Cylon ambush before disappearing once again into the vastness of space ((Comics: 1999 Tourbook)).[5]
