Tigh's liquor

From the only original and legitimate Battlestar Wiki: the free-as-in-beer, non-corporate, open-content encyclopedia, analytical reference, and episode guide on all things Battlestar Galactica. Accept neither subpar substitutes nor subpar clones.
Saul Tigh measures how much alcohol he has remaining (TRS: "Water").

Regularly seen throughout the series, most commonly in the hands of Saul Tigh, this whisky-colored beverage seems particularly popular among Colonial officers.

As the specific name of this alcohol remains unnamed, it is referred to as Tigh's liquor.[1]

Bottles for sale in the Propworx Auction.

Propworx Lot 494 and 495 note that the bottle is six-sided with faux etched graphics (unidentified L-shaped symbol) on all sides and measures 12 inches x 2.75 inches.

Real-World Origin

edit source

The bottles used by the property department were repurposed from the now-defunct Brilliant Spirits, who produced and bottled vodka in this style of bottle in the highlands of Scotland. The bottles also featured removable hexagonal shot glasses that sat over the neck and cap of the bottle.[2]

"L" Logos

edit source

The symbol itself is a nod to the logo found on the "L" version of the Original Series' cubit coins.

There are two types of "L" logo used in the series. In earlier episodes, the bottle logo featured an oval and the "L" logo as negative space. In later episodes, just the 'L' was depicted. The bottles themselves used faux vinyl graphics to emulate engraving.
