Once on Galactica he finds himself commanded by Kara Thrace, and forms friendships with fellow nugget pilots Brendan Costanza and Louanne Katraine.
Thrown into immediately flying Vipers because of the absence of flight simulators, none of the nuggets perform particularly well. This leads Thrace to wash out the entire class, but she reverses herself on orders from Commander William Adama.

- After Lee Adama's defection to the Laura Roslin faction, Commander William Adama considers a pilot named Perry to replace him as CAG, before ultimately settling on George Birch. Because of his death in "The Hand of God", the "Perry" mentioned in "Home, Part I" has to be a different pilot altogether.
