Herschel is a deckhand aboard Galactica following the Second Exodus (TRS: "Hero" and "Dirty Hands").

Chief Tyrol addresses Herschel by name while coordinating the hangar deck crew during the arrival of the damaged Cylon Raider containing Daniel "Bulldog" Novacek. Tyrol directs him to maintain proper security protocols around the unknown craft, asking "Herschel, am I asking you or telling you?" as he organizes the alert guard (TRS: "Hero").

Notes

  • Herschel is mentioned by Chief Tyrol when he addresses his crew right before Kara "Starbuck" Thrace arrives to take Diana Seelix to pilot training in "Dirty Hands," but not clearly identified.
  • The character appears in "Hero" as part of Tyrol's hangar deck operations, demonstrating the continuity of deck crew personnel across multiple episodes.
  • Herschel may be named after William Herschel, a famous astronomer.
