Jean Barolay is a member of Samuel Anders' resistance group on Caprica, and a former Caprica Buccaneer.
She aids Anders in planting a bomb in a Cylon café, 9 months after the Fall of the Twelve Colonies (Downloaded). She later survives an attack on Anders' base camp and was among the group of survivors with Anders who encounter the rescue party led by Starbuck from Galactica (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part I).
Barolay survives the firefight between the combined resistance and rescue team members and a group of Cylon Centurions and arrives safely aboard Galactica with Anders and Starbuck (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II).
She is involved with the resistance to the Cylon occupation of New Caprica; in particular, she is involved with hiding weapons in the temple there (The Resistance).
After the exodus from New Caprica, Barolay becomes a member of the Circle (Collaborators).
Barolay is part of the civilian ground team on the algae planet, helping with the harvest of the food (The Eye of Jupiter). When Cylon Centurions land on the planet and advance on the camp, she and the other civilians are drafted to defend the human positions. Barolay belongs to a fire team preparing a trap at a choke point. When the Centurions spot the trap, she is forced to detonate it before the Cylons completely enter the blast radius (Rapture).
She is assigned to the crew of the Demetrius during its search for Earth (The Road Less Traveled). When Demetrius picks up a marooned Leoben copy, Barolay is among those handpicked for a mission to the heavily damaged basestar he claims to have come from. Aboard said basestar, Barolay and the other members of her team learn that the Cylons inhabiting this vessel constitute a breakaway sect. An unlikely alliance is formed between the Demetrius team and the rebel Cylons, and a decision is made to merge the basestar's disabled FTL drive with that of the Raptor that Barolay and the others had boarded the vessel in. As Barolay begins work on connecting one system to the other, she comes into contact with a Six copy that she had murdered by drowning over a year previous. After a brief squabble with Barolay, the Six becomes severely enraged by Barolay's apparent lack of remorse and proceeds to beat her. The few blows she bestows are enough to disorient and kill Barolay.
This Six is killed moments later by Natalie in order to appease the enraged Colonials and maintain the shaky alliance they have formed. Due to there being no Resurrection Ship in range, Barolay's killer is dead for good (Faith).
