He attempts to recruit Jerome Zarek to join their strike, initially leading him to believe that it would be a peaceful protest. However, Bettis' subsequent assault on a shift supervisor belies this, as he scorns Zarek and other non-strikers for continuing their jobs (Battlestar Galactica: Zarek 1).
