William Adama Sr. was the father of Joseph Adama and Sam Adama, and a native of Tauron.
During the Tauron Civil War circa 88 BCH (12YR), William and his wife Isabelle were members of the Ha'la'tha resistance. As his father before him, William gives his son his Mark of Manhood for learning the Sacred Scrolls. Following this, William and Isabelle divulge their involvement with the Ha'la'tha, and introduce the use of kapi vis-à-vis Tauron concepts of controlling ones return to the soil.
Sometime thereafter, a member of the Heracleides ("Herac") militia was killed outside their home, from whom Sam stole a pistol. Herac soldiers lead by Kolibri subsequently kill Isabelle and tortured Joseph in their own home, breaking William's legs in the process. William's son Joseph killed the Herac soldiers and then, at William's request, killed his father using the stolen handgun (CAP: "The Dirteaters"). This act forces Adama's children into displacement, living on the streets, which led to their subsequent immigration to Caprica with Ha'la'tha assistance (CAP: "Pilot" and "The Dirteaters").
Sam retains a well-worn monochromatic photo of his parents, perhaps the last surviving photographic evidence of their life (CAP: "False Labor").
In 69 BCH (31YR), Joseph named his first son after his father (CAP: "Pilot"). After his first son's death in 58 BCH (42YR), Joseph and his second wife name their only child, a son, William (CAP: "Here Be Dragons" and "Apotheosis").
