Following the Battle of Gamoray, Pegasus escapes via a lightspeed maneuver with Cain and his crew surviving the encounter, unbeknownst to Galactica.

Two sectares following Gamoray, he considers transferring command of Pegasus over to Iollas, his long-time friend of thirty yahrens and executive officer, as he misses his daughter deeply.

He abandons that idea following the transmission from the last known living Cylon woman, Kali (Battlestar Galactica vs. Battlestar Galactica #1).
