Zed is an employee of the Inter-Fleet Broadcasting network.

Zed is apparently a sports commentator, covering events like Triad (TOS: "The Man with Nine Lives"), and has special guest commentators like Lieutenant Boomer to add their two cubits.

Zed is present when Flight Sergeant Ortega and Lieutenant Starbuck are ejected from the Triad game (TOS: "Murder on the Rising Star").
