"Dirt eater" is a racial slur directed at the Tauron people (CAP: "Pilot").
The slur takes its name from the fact that during wartime, Taurons suffering from "the spots" became so malnourished and desperate to fill their stomachs that they were forced to eat dirt from the ground (The Caprican).
"Dirt eater" was also used by members of the Tauron government's Heracleides forces against suspected Tauron rebels and rebel sympathizers during the colony's civil war (CAP: "The Dirteaters").
