Joan Leyte is the Minister of Defense on Caprica, 58 years prior to the Fall of the Twelve Colonies. She succeeded Minister Val Chambers following his murder. Minister Leyte awarded a long term Caprican Defense Department contract to Daniel Graystone after witnessing the successful test of the Cyber Combat Unit, dubbed the Cybernetic Life-Form Node or "Cylon". Leyte apparently held anti-Tauron beliefs, stating that "deceit is in their DNA" (Caprica pilot).
Notes
- Veena Sood is credited in the pilot episode of Caprica as Secretary of Defense Joan Leyte, however, dialog addresses not only her, but also her predecessor Val Chambers, as "Minister".
