Council Security Reese operates as a "blackshirt"; he is in his twenties and is a guy that people love to hate. He is pretty much typical of other Council Security officers, arrogant and sarcastic, like the Quorum it serves. He thought that Michael and his party (Sarah and the children) should be forcibly removed and thoroughly interrogated, and was impatiently annoyed at the cautious actions of Commander Adama and the Warriors. Reese attempted to backup Starbuck, who wanted to extradite the "Earthlings" from the ship, however Starbuck would not have Reese's "assistance". He threatened that he wasn't the only one that was furious at the inaction of Adama.

After the Quorum took control of the situation, and eventually received a doctor and participating medtechs from the Rising Star, he was assigned to defend them. However, Michael had other plans, and threatened the observers in the bay with a stunning weapon. Michael thought Reese to be a threat, for he tactlessly attempted to calm the asphyxiating Terran, and was stunned by Michael. The present medtechs treated Reese, so that he again was ready to foil the Warriors another day. (Greetings from Earth)

Reese was obviously more useful on the Prison Barge, as he was assigned there during Baltar's attempt to escape. He brought Adama news that the Quorum wanted to see Adama post haste, and informed a grinning, sarcastic Baltar that he had mess duty again. Much to Baltar's pleasure, the Nomen managed to quickly quiet Reese and the other "blackshirts" after the Nomen temporarily "died". (Baltar's Escape)
