Story
It's that time of year again! Local university students will strap on their thinking caps and descend on the city this weekend as Caprica University holds its third annual University Robotics Competition (URC).
The goal of the URC is to encourage students to solve engineering and design problems in a fun and exciting way. URC founder Marlon Reiner says he hopes that, "Competitions like these inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, math, and engineering."
Qualai University will attempt to defend their win from last year but they'll face some stiff competition. The schools competing for the coveted Best Robot Award are:
Caprica University Apollo University Qualai University Caprica City University 12 Colonies Technical College Delphi University Cloverdale College Tauron University
Apollo University is said to be fielding two teams in this years competition because of a recent donation that boosted the funding of their computer science department. Building materials for the competition are being supplied by Graystone Industries and The Vergis Corporation, co-sponsors of the event. The event will be held in CU's gymnasium and it's free and open to the public.
