For subjects with a similar name, see: Prometheus (disambiguation).

Prometheus is a Lord of Kobol in the Colonial pantheon.

Prometheus is noted for taking fire from the Gods and giving it to the humans against Zeus' wishes. Given Tom Zarek's continual referencing of Admiral Adama as Zeus, and the fact that the Prometheus is the hub of the black market, an organization which seeks to redistribute goods from the military to the civilians, the parallel is very apparent (TRS: "Home, Part II" and "Black Market").

Prometheus is also the inspiration for the name of Caprica's Promethia High School (CAP: "Rebirth") and the name of a ship in the Fleet (TRS: "Black Market" and "Crossroads, Part II"). During the Cylon War, a battlestar named Prometheus served alongside Galactica and Columbia as one of the primary Colonial Fleet vessels (TRS: "Blood and Chrome").

Notes

edit
  • The pre-production script for Blood and Chrome references the battlestar Prometheus as one of Galactica's sister ships during the Cylon War.[1] The script describes these battlestars as actively engaged in combat operations, with the newsreel footage noting that Galactica "along with its sister ships, Columbia and Prometheus, is showing the Cylon no quarter."
