A dedication ceremony is a religious event held in temple for a newborn child that is similar in principle to the concept of a baptism.
Nora Farmer talks of Cally Tyrol's dedication ceremony for the Tyrols' new son, Nicholas Tyrol (The Resistance, Episode 4).
Sister Tivenan dedicates the infant Tyrol to the service of Lords of Kobol Ares and Apollo at his dedication ceremony with this blessing:
"With this mark, we dedicate Nicholas Stephen Tyrol to the service of Ares and Apollo. May he prove worthy of their blessings and those of mighty Zeus. So say we all" (The Resistance, Episode 10).
