Lt. Tucker "Duck" Clellan is likely a former nugget trained by Kara "Starbuck" Thrace or a refugee from another Colonial unit like Alex "Crashdown" Quartararo as he is a new face to Karl Agathon who tries to introduce himself during Duck's card game with Starbuck, Racetrack and Hot Dog. Duck later participates in the massacre of the disabled Cylon raiders (Flight of the Phoenix).
According to Kat, he is one of the best pilots that Galactica still has. Clellan helps put Reilly's things away after he's killed by Scar (Scar). Later, during a patrol of the Big Spud, Duck unsuccessfully calls BB to retreat when their patrol's fuel is too low. BB, a nugget, ignores orders and engages a group of Raiders with fatal results (Scar).
In "The Captain's Hand" he tries to enter the pilots' duty locker several times, but Lee Adama and Anastasia Dualla have locked it after spending the night together there.
At the time of the settling of New Caprica, Duck is an ace several times over with forty confirmed kills. His significant other is a woman called Nora, who wants to have a child with him. He is later approached by his friends, Galen Tyrol and James Lyman, in an attempt to recruit him into their resistance efforts, but declines due to his plans with Nora. He is also a smoker, but quits due to his family plans.
Following Nora's death in a Cylon attack on a temple, Duck is clearly upset at the revelation that the resistance was hiding weapons there. After a brief period of mourning, he relents and agrees to join the resistance by infiltrating the New Caprica Police and keeping an eye on the Cylons (Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance).
Clellan later agrees to become a suicide bomber when the resistance learns about a NCP graduation ceremony, believing that Gaius Baltar will also be present; when Samuel Anders asks whether Clellan is comitted, he states that without Nora, he has nothing left to live for. Despite Baltar's last-minute withdrawl from attending, Clellan executes the plan (Occupation), which results in the deaths of 33 people and Cylon VIPs and, eventually, a crackdown including mass abductions of suspected insurgents by the surviving NCP members (Precipice).
Notes[edit]
- Christian Tessier's last prominent role in a SF series was as Marmaduke "Megabyte" Damon, in the 1992-95 revival of the British series The Tomorrow People.
