Sal is a CapTV camera operator working at Atlas Arena.

Biography

edit

In 58 BCH (42YR), on the day of a scheduled pyramid match between the Caprica Buccaneers and the Delphi Legion, Sal is stationed in a broadcast booth overlooking the stadium. His work is interrupted when Daniel and Amanda Graystone force their way into the booth. Although Sal recognizes the Graystones, he is also aware of a Global Defense Department alert identifying them as wanted on suspicion of terrorism, and attempts to call security. The Graystones overpower and bind him before he can complete the call. Several minutes later, Sal recovers sufficiently to lunge at Daniel from behind, but Amanda strikes him over the head and renders him unconscious. Despite his attempts to stop them, the Graystones' plan to prevent a Soldiers of the One suicide bombing of the stadium succeeds (CAP: "Apotheosis").

Notes

edit
  • Sal is portrayed by Mike Dopud, who previously portrayed Specialist Gage in the Re-imagined Series episodes "Pegasus," "Resurrection Ship, Part II," "The Oath," and "Blood on the Scales." Dopud's next appearance in the reimagined universe is as Captain Deke "Minute Man" Tornvald in Blood and Chrome, making him one of a very small number of performers to have played three distinct named characters across the Ron Moore-era Battlestar Galactica continuity.
  • No interview or public statement by Dopud discussing the role of Sal has been located in the public record, including in four long-form interviews conducted between 2009 and 2024.[production 1] The absence likely reflects the circumstances of Caprica's broadcast: the series was cancelled on October 27, 2010, and its final five episodes — including "Apotheosis" — aired as a Syfy burn-off marathon on January 4, 2011, with little accompanying press.
