Eden is an ancient, uninhabited city on the planet Kobol.
According to the Book of the Word, Eden was the largest city on the planet. Due to an ecological disaster that had caused the exodus from Kobol, Eden had become a desert, populated by ruins.
The structures of Eden are populated by pyramid structures, an architectural trait later repurposed on on Caprica before its destruction (TOS: "Saga of a Star World", "Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II").
The Path to Earth
editCommander Adama, Captain Apollo and Serina explore what may be the city of Eden in hopes of finding information on the lost colony known as Earth. The Tomb of the Ninth Lord of Kobol is located within its remains.
This city is further damaged by a Cylon attack from Baltar's forces in the form of a Cylon Raider phalanx, as ordered by Lucifer. This attack prevents Adama from gaining much information on Earth's whereabouts as the stonework that told the exodus crumbles, and any further investigation was abandoned due to the Cylon presence (TOS: "Lost Planet of the Gods, Part II").
Tie-in Material Information
edit- According to Encyclopedia Galactica (a non-canonical piece of merchandise published in 1979):
- Near the ancient capital city of Eden lie the pyramid shaped tombs of the Lords of Kobol where the ancient rulers of humankind were buried amid rich treasures. [1]
Notes
edit- This view of Eden was shot at the ruins of Temple of Luxor, in its Outer Court, in Egypt. The human statues are actually images of the Egyptian ruler, Ramses II.
- In Christianity, Eden is the paradise which mankind lived in harmony with God until their downfall.
