Alan Hughes Gaius Baltar's lawyer. He is the one responsible for sneaking the pages of Baltar's manifesto My Triumphs, My Mistakes off Galatica and disseminating them to the Fleet's population. Cally describes Hughes as a "snazzy high-priced lawyer" and he appears to be something of a flirt, making a pass at Margaret "Racetrack" Edmondson before boarding her Raptor.
He is killed when a bomb explodes under his seat in the Raptor meant to shuttle him back to the Fleet. It is later revealed that the bomb was planted by Galactica Landing Signal Officer Cpt. Aaron Kelly. After his death, Hughes is hastily replaced by public defender Romo Lampkin as Baltar's attorney (The Son Also Rises).
