Ben Stark is a student at the Athena Academy on Caprica, a private religious school. He and some of other bright students, including Lacy and Stark's girlfriend, Zoe Graystone, are introduced by the school headmistress, Sister Clarice Willow to the Soldiers of One, an illegal monotheistic cult of one god.

Ben becomes a fanatical monotheist and while he induces Graystone and Lacy to leave Caprica with him, he instead blows up their train and himself with a bomb. Like Graystone, he uploaded his memories into an online holographic avatar named Ben-A, who has contact only with Sister Willow (Caprica).[2].
