Jaycie "Goldbrick"[1] McGavin is a Raptor pilot aboard Galactica during the twelfth year of the first Cylon War.
During her first mission, she recalls being in a Raider's sights and, through instinct and training, destroys the Raider.
By the time she reaches the rank of lieutenant, she has a romantic, or at least sexual, relationship with Viper rook William Adama. She is part of a mission to attack a remote Cylon outpost on an unnamed ice planet, attached to Raptor Squadron 2 for the attack (Razor Flashbacks, Episode 1).
During "Operation Raptor Talon," McGavin is badly wounded, suffering severe burns on half her face when her Raptor's console explodes (Razor Flashbacks, Episode 2).

However, it should be noted that William Adama may be using "goldbrick" as a verb, in which case she is shirking her duties because she's injured. Albeit he is obviously trying to brighten her spirits up in the context of the pep talk.
