Revision as of 21:05, 10 March 2026 by Joe Beaudoin Jr. (talk | contribs) (+ restructuring, and solium scanner)
A close-up of Apollo's scanner while attempting to scan Count Iblis (TOS: "War of the Gods, Part I").

Colonials employ a handheld scanner of electronic instrumentality with a variety of purposes.

Handheld scanners are typically palm-sized and affixed to equipment belts, including the weapon's belt worn by Colonial Warriors. Some scanners have electronic components, such as chips and transistors, fixed atop a haircell textured shell (TOS: "War of the Gods, Part I").

Medical scanner

A handheld scanner used by Cassiopeia on Michael (TOS: "Greetings From Earth").

Medtechs employ similar handheld devices capable of recording a person's life signs and physical condition (TOS: "Greetings From Earth").

Solium scanner

Captain Apollo with solium scanner, scouring the bowels of Gemini with beta company for solium leaks (TOS: "Saga of a Star World").

Apollo uses a wand-like solium scanner[1] while part of Beta Company during inspections of the freighter Gemini (TOS: "Saga of a Star World").

Notes

  • The various box-like scanners, the personal communicator, and transmitter tend to be similar, as they are variations of the same base prop re-used and redressed throughout the series.
  1. This is a Battlestar Wiki descriptive term.
