The Worker's Union was originally organized by Galen Tyrol to make demands for improved conditions from the Baltar administration on New Caprica (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part II).

After the Second Exodus, Tyrol finds himself again the leader of the revived Worker's Union to aid in fair working standards for many laborers on the refinery ship and others in the Fleet, at President Roslin's urging (Dirty Hands).
