Background

edit

The Janus heavy cruiser is an old Gemenese ship design, made popular during the later stages of the imperial wars between Virgon and Leonis.

Heavy armour plating provides it with enough staying power to remain relevant in modern warfare, although its older fire control systems are considered outdated compared to more modern cruisers.

Gamplay

edit

The Janus class was introduced to the game Battlestar Galactica Deadlock through the first DLC (Downloadable content) titled "Reinforcement Pack." This expansion adds four ships to the game. As such, the Janus class is accessible through campaign, skirmish, multiplayer and Operation Anabasis.

Notes

edit

According to the Spacedock promotional video, the following quote is attributed to Sinon Quade, Colonial Naval Architect:

The Janus goes back to the good old days of imperial warfare, when Leonid and Virgon captains would just keep swinging until one of them got bored and launched a nuke.

Janus is a Colonial Warrior serving aboard the battlestar Galactica.

Janus is part of a Viper patrol in an unknown region of space when he, along with Sheba and Boomer, goes missing in action.

This prompts Starbuck to investigate in Recon Viper Three, leading to his being shot down for a crash-landing on an unnamed planet. In doing so, Starbuck ultimately reveals to the Fleet that Boomer had been captured by the Cylons was subjected to a cybernetic conversion process to turn him into a new form of Cylon Centurion. Following his and a Cylon-ized Boomer's return to Galactica, it is implied that Janus and the other missing pilots have suffered the same fate ((ComicsMasquerade)).[1]
