A Tucana talks with Starbuck (TOS: "Saga of a Star World").

Tucanas are the species of the Tucana singers encountered on Carillon by Starbuck and Boomer.

Tucanas are mainly humanoid in appearance, though are four-eyed and two-mouthed. The lower mouth is capable of generating a low-pitch capable of breaking glass if sustained for a long period of time (TOS: "Saga of a Star World").

According to the Writer's Guide, Tucanas are "feline, three-dimensional creatures".[1]

Tie-in Material Information

edit source
Tucanas are a sophisticated people who export high technology throughout the Galaxy. Several Tucana musicians have also gained great popularity in the Colonies. The Tucana are hermaphrodites, that is, each individual has the attributes of two sexes. In fact, they have two sets of eyes and two mouths, each controlled by a distinct part of the brain. In a very real sense, each Tucana is not one person, but two. The Toucana's (sic) broad visual range protected their forest-dwelling ancestors from the large hostile predators of prehistoric Toucan (sic). [2]
