The skivvy malanos is a Tauron table lamp, used as a social and religious artifact center to their inking ceremonies, such as Ink Day. The lamp is used to heat up the hand poke and stick tattoo tool in order to tattoo marks of significance.
In 88 BCH (12YR), William Adama Sr. uses their skivvy malanos, an Adama family heirloom, to ink Joseph Adama for his Ink Day. Later, Joseph inks his own brother, Samuel Adama, in a tent after being displaced as a result of their parents terminal altercation with a Heracleides squad (CAP: "The Dirteaters").
