Mandala planet

A mandala-colored atmospheric storm as sighted by Kara "Starbuck" Thrace ^{(TRS: "Maelstrom")}.

Mandala planet is a gas giant encountered by the Fleet circa 3 ACH (2002BYR), where its DRADIS-affecting synchrotron radiation provides a good stopping point to refuel the Fleet's ships.

While on Combat Air Patrol of the fourth day of refueling operations, Kara "Starbuck" Thrace believes that she has sighted a Heavy Raider, pursuing it into the denser parts of the planet, coming across a storm center that appears to share the same color-pattern as the mandalas she has drawn throughout her life.

Despite concerns about her flight status, she and Lee "Apollo" Adama are on a later patrol, where she sees another Raider and pursues it towards the storm. As she experiences visions, she lets herself descend to the gas giant's hard deck, resulting in the loss of Viper 8757 and Thrace herself ^{(TRS: "Maelstrom")}.
