Freighter Eighteen is an old Valnic-class freighter traveling with the fugitive Fleet. It has a crew of 5 and carries 400 passengers.
After suffering an engine malfunction, the freighter is left behind by the Fleet under the protection of Boomer. Its crew is unable to make repairs, forcing an evacuation. During this time, the ship is boarded by Cylons, who kill the crew and implant its captain, Heffren, with a mind-control device. After its passengers and Heffren are evacuated to Galactica, the crippled freighter is left abandoned in space (Comics: Look-In Magazine: Storyline 1).[1]
