The creation of an alternate reality begins during an ambush of Galactica and the Fleet in a nebula humanity's survivors use to hide themselves.
Coordinates psionically divined by Countess Sephoni purported to be those of Earth lead to the Colonial's introduction to the Cylon' super basestar, a ship strong enough to eradicate the Fleet.

Original Outcome
This marks the first encounter with the Cylons in two yahrens.

Facing an overwhelming force of Cylons, whose approach has been hidden by the very nebula the Colonials use to hide within, Commander Adama orders Galactica to bear the brunt of the onslaught while the civilian ships escape further into the safety of the nebula.
Background
Cylons enact their plan to ensnare humanity by manufacturing psionic impressions of humans, which are sympathetically received by Countess Sephoni during her ten yahren separation from the the Fleet (doa-).

Galactica develops major damage, forcing Adama to authorize Zee's deployment of the temporal warper weapons outfitted on two modified Vipers. Warriors Apollo and Starbuck are pulled from the flight line and assigned to test pilot the craft, with Zee giving them specific instructions that they each only have 10 shots before they need to recharge via a temporal battery.
Following confirmation of these ersatz transmissions, Sephoni touches the mind of Xam, a latent Delta-class telepath who languishes in a coma aboard the battlestar Galactica following the Storm Zone Ambush (vol2, doa). Arising from this communication, Xam relays the coordinates to her ship, Taurella, to Captain Starbuck (doa).

Understanding this, Apollo and Starbuck launch and test the weapon on two Raiders, finding the results to be effective. Before they are able to deploy it on the attacking basestar, Cylon suicide attacks cause the temporal battery to overload and creates a temporal storm that only Apollo and Starbuck are able to weather (vol2). In effect, this event spawns an alternate reality where Galactica was never built (vol2 & ).
With Countess Sephoni and Taurella<nowiki/>'s crew rejoining the Fleet, Commander Adama authorizes an recon patrol to coordinates Sephoni believes are of Earth. Following the Battle of Cache, Apollo and Starbuck riding tandem in the remaining Temporal Viper are swept away into a temporal storm, along with the forces of the Colonial Resistance of an alternate reality.
Zurel is quickly destroyed, with Neats taking out two Raiders on Apollo's tail. Apollo orders Neats to hit her turbos before she herself is overcome.

With two capitol ships, Baltifer's former basestar under Adama's command and an incongruous copy of Galactica herself under the command of Starbuck, and surviving Vipers from Cache's base, they are deposited in the primary reality.
Apollo's contacts Galactica to report on the trap before his Viper receives damage, and falls towards the small planetoid (doa).

Vulnerable due to the overload of Zee's temporal battery, Galactica requires an hour to restore the ship's systems while Adama reconciles the loss of Apollo and Starbuck's temporal weapon Vipers. Facing certain destruction, Galactica finds itself saved by the forces of the alternate reality, dispatching the Cylon attackers. This permits the timelines diverge, the alternate reality vessels returning from whence they came, and the reunion of Apollo and Starbuck with the rag-tag Fleet (vol2).

The Cylons recover Apollo and nurse him back to health for unknown reasons, providing the opportunity for his rescue (doa).

Adama's Gambit Encounter of the Super Basestar Rescue of Apollo

Coordinates psionically divined by Countess Sephoni purported to be those of Earth lead to the Colonial's introduction to the Cylons' super basestar, a ship strong enough to eradicate the rag-tag, fugitive fleet.

This marks the first encounter with the Cylons in two yahrens.

Background

Cylons enact their plan to ensnare humanity by manufacturing psionic impressions of humans, which are sympathetically received by Countess Sephoni during her ten yahren separation from the fugitive fleet (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #1-#3).

Following confirmation of these ersatz transmissions, Sephoni touches the mind of Xam, a latent Delta-class telepath who languishes in a coma aboard the battlestar Galactica following the Storm Zone Ambush (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #9, Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #2). Arising from this communication, Xam relays the coordinates to her ship, Taurella, to Captain Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #1).

With Countess Sephoni and Taurella's crew rejoining the Fleet, Commander Adama authorizes an recon patrol to coordinates Sephoni believes are of Earth. This patrol is lead by his only surviving son, Major Apollo, and two new Warriors, Zurel and Neats.

Action

As they enter orbit of a moon-size planetoid, Zurel reports a ping on his magnetic sensor—a Cylon super basestar with thousands of Raiders in formation. Now aware of the trap they are ensnared, they attempt to flee.

Zurel is quickly destroyed, with Neats taking out two Raiders on Apollo's tail. Apollo orders Neats to hit her turbos before she herself is overcome.

Apollo's contacts Galactica to report on the trap before his Viper receives damage, and falls towards the small planetoid (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #2).

After-Action

The Cylons recover Apollo and nurse him back to health for unknown reasons, providing the opportunity for his rescue (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #3).
