Equellus is a low-tech planet in the Hatari sector of the Cyrannus galaxy, similar in motif to the American West circa 1800s. Apollo crash-lands on this planet after luring a Cylon task force away from the Fleet with false distress signals.
Prior to Apollo's landing on this planet, there was another battle with the Cylons approximately ten yahrens prior, resulting in another Colonial Warrior, Martin, crash-landing on Equellus. A Cylon Raider also crashed roughly nine yahrens prior, Equellus residents Lacerta, Marco, and Macy rescue a lone Cylon Centurion, Red-Eye, who terrorizes the residents on behalf of Lacerta, until Red-Eye is destroyed by Apollo (TOS: "The Lost Warrior").
Tie-in Material Information
edit source- The Encyclopedia Galactica (a non-canonical piece of merchandise published in 1979) transposes Sectar for Equellus, and vice versa:
- Sectar is a remote planet in the Hatari sector dotted with fewer than twenty small human settlements. Large Ovine ranches once exported large quantities of meat to the Colonies; orbiting freighters loaded up from small shuttles and froze their cargos by exposure to the chill of space for the long journey home. Today the Oviners raise small herds for subsistence that provide them with milk products and clothing as well as meat. Cut off from Colonial civilization, technology on Sectar has reverted to a primitive level. Its population is largely defenseless; their most powerful weapons are simple Numo guns. Sectar would be an easy prey for any hostile, advanced race. It remains undisturbed only because it is so poor that no conqueror would waste time or energy on it. [1]
Notes
edit source- Equellus' orbital view is a reuse of Caprica's orbital view during the attack of the colony by the Cylon Raiders (without the Raiders) seen in "Saga of a Star World."
Separate continuity
edit source- Equellus and its inhabitants are revisited, in a roundabout way, in the Dynamite Entertainment comic book (Comics: Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #4).
