Mellorak infection is a disease known to the Colonies.
It is transmitted by skin contact, as well as through bodily fluids and sexual intercourse. The only known treatment for this infection is a drug called Bittamucin, which must be used within 48 hours after the onset of symptoms.
Symptoms of this infection include coughing, clammy complexion, and lethargy.
After boarding the Galactica, Sagittarons, including Willie King, were identified as having the infection, but refused to take the drug due to religious beliefs. Despite claims of administering the drug ineffectually, Doctor Michael Robert poisoned Sagittaron patients, excluding Anastasia Dualla, due to his own racist beliefs (The Woman King).
