For Sagan's sake! is an exclamation, similar to the real world expressions "For God's sake!" or "For Christ's sake!"
Usage by episode
- Athena follows Starbuck as his wingman. Starbuck allows Athena to follow but tells her "for Sagan's sake, don't shoot me!" (TOS: "Lost Planet of the Gods, Part I")
Usage by comics
- Starbuck uses this expression after a red alert is called aboard Galactica in response to being boarded by Cylons (Battlestar Galactica: Cylon Apocalypse #1).
Notes
- This is an obvious homage to Carl Sagan, an American astronomer, astrobiologist, and science popularizer. Sagan was often considered a skeptic, freethinker, or even an atheist in regards to religion, which makes this reference all the more humorous.
