Frimp is a mildly derogatory, innocuous Colonial term to denote a person who is either ill-informed or performs an act of idiocy. It is the Earth equivalent of "idiot" or "moron."
The only Colonial that uses it extensively is Starla. She calls a fellow Super Scout a frimp when describing an apple from the scout handbook Troy procured (1980: "The Super Scouts, Part I") and later, at the Griffith Park Observatory, asks her fellow Scouts if Marcy is a frimp (1980: "The Night the Cylons Landed, Part I").
Notes
- The term "frimp" originates from the 1970 publication of Robert A. Heinlein's science fiction novel, I Will Fear No Evil. In the book, the term is a verb used to denote "every possible way to copulate—every possible way to hook up two or more bodies—and number—of any sex, or combinations of all six sexes. Includes far-out combinations that are shocking and outrageous."[1]
