Gamoray is a planet originally the center of power for the Delphian Empire, situated within a region of space the Cylons refer to as the Krillian Star System. According to the Colonials, Gamoray at one time time was inhabited by some 70 million beings.
Conquered by the Cylons sometime before the destruction of the Twelve Colonies, Gamoray became a Cylon regional capital city (complete with civilians), a base, and fuel dump located on the planet to project its imperial power throughout the star system (TOS: "The Living Legend, Part I").
Gamoray is also the location of a space battle between Cylon forces and the Colonial battlestars Galactica and Pegasus. The attack by the Colonial forces is planned and executed by Pegasus Commander Cain after he joins the rag-tag fleet, having survived the Battle of Molecay, where Cain's battlestar had been presumed destroyed.
During the Battle of Gamoray, two basestars are destroyed—but Pegasus herself is presumed lost (TOS: "The Living Legend, Part II").
Tie-in Material Information
- According to Encyclopedia Galactica (a non-canonical piece of merchandise published in 1979):
- Gomoray was a prosperous industrial world whose population and economy swelled with Colonial military demands during the Great War. The Final Destruction took a particularly brutal form on Gomoray. Since the Cylons wished to take the planet's sophisticated industrial plant intact its human population of over fifty million was exterminated entirely by Cylon death squads. As a Cylon outpost, Gomoray's solium refineries became a target of the harassment tactics of the Pegasus. In 6572, the Battlestars Galactica and Pegasus combined to destroy the Cylon presence there and sack its vast solium refinery of its reserves. The fuel obtained in that raid was sufficient to power the fleet of survivors for yahren.[1]
Notes
- Fans of the Original Series prefer to believe that Pegasus survived the encounter at Gamoray, and would have returned to the series at some point in the future, had it been renewed.
- Some of the scenes on the ground at the Gamoray base were filmed at night on the campus of the University of California at Northridge [1].
