Tigh is a Colonial serving in the Colonial Military during the last stages of the Thousand Yahren War and the lone battlestar Galactica executive officer following the Cylon Holocaust.
Boxey is the son of Serina who survives the Cylon Holocaust.

During his early years in the Fleet, Boxey resides aboard Galactica with his step-father, Apollo, following the death of his mother. This leaves Boxey without any known surviving blood relations, as is the case with numerous survivors throughout the fugitive fleet.

As a Viper pilot aboard battlestar Rylon in 7322, he and wingman Captain Adama are the first Warriors on site during the attack on Umbra, Caprica.

As they attempt to fight off phalanxes of Cylon Raider, Adama is shot down and crash-lands into the Thorn forest near Umbra. Before crashing, Adama orders Tigh to return to Rylon for reinforcements. He does so, and is able to secure a medi-ship to pick up both Adama and the young orphaned child whom saved his life (starbuck).
After the events of Adama's Gambit, Boxey resumes attempting to find a place to play aboard Galactica, often being shooed from the engine room by Colonel Tigh and bouncing around to various parts of the active battlestar, including the launch bay. Following Boomer from the launch bay, he happens upon a funeral ceremony to commemorate the pilots lost, and realizes the sacrifice many Warriors make to protect them. In the aftermath of the Nebula Ambush, Tigh leads a damage control team to the luxury craft Ariadna, a ship whose engines are failing and leaving Athena to determine the next steps as to planning a future evacuation of the craft's passengers. After nursing the ship back to health, Tigh and his team return to Galactica after escaping into the storm zone, committing himself to keeping Ariadna operational for as long as possible (vol2). During the travel through the storm zone, Tigh and Apollo find themselves at odds over Adama's decline, particularly when Adama fervently professes his belief that Earth truly lies at the center of the storm zone (vol2).

After egressing from the storm zone, Tigh tells Adama that a nearby star cluster will allow for varied opportunities for orbital concealment, so that the Fleet may lie low and resupply—and for a possible three-point strike against their pursuers, should they need to fight. However, Tigh and his damage control team return to Ariadna to address the engine issue, while Adama enlists the assistance of Dr. Madusa due to Adama's desire to abdicate command of the Fleet. In doing so, he feels that Tigh's the backbone of the Fleet in his role as executive officer, and that Tigh is far too much a warrior and not enough of a statesperson to be the commander, a belief that makes Adama feel like he's standing over judgment of his loyal friend (vol2).

Tigh is pleased at Adama's recovery and stops Apollo from shooting Adama following Apollo's realization that Iblis possesses him (vol3).

Boxey in 7358 as depicted in Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #4.

7351

En route to Earth, Boxey becomes one of the many denizens of the Fleet to share in the dream of Earth, projected by delta-class telepath Xam as they traverse an unnamed storm zone. This concerns both Apollo and Boxey's step-aunt, Athena (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #8#9).

Commander Adama comes across the distraught boy and consoles him, escorting him to core command and promising him that Boxey will someday grow up to see Earth (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 2 #12).

Later, as they transit a black hole, Boxey is briefly seen cavorting about Galactica with his trusted robotic daggit, Muffit (Classic Battlestar Galactica Vol. 3 #1 & #5).

7358

Entering his teens, Boxey is scared by the loss of Apollo following the Encounter of the Super Basestar, after yahrens of non-existent contact with their relentless Cylon pursuers (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #2).

Following Apollo's unsanctioned rescue, Boxey discusses enlisting as a Colonial Warrior to Apollo, himself grappling with being forced into an advisory support role given a brain injury that prevents Apollo's active front-line defense of the Fleet. Apollo takes Boxey's gumption at becoming the warrior in an offensive way, lashing out at his step-son (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #5).

The Cylons ambush the Fleet sectons into Apollo's return, leaving him little choice but to step back into a Viper cockpit, and give his life to destroy the dreaded Cylon super basestar. This leaves Boxey without a father figure, relying more on his adopted family of his grandfather and aunt, and Galactica's surviving crew (Battlestar Galactica: Death of Apollo #6).
